Eight Tips To Get Healthy Hair Naturally

We all love our hair a lot and to be honest we care about our hair more than our beauty products and skincare at times. Hair defines almost 90 percent of a person’s personality. Even if you are wearing a nice dress, a full face of makeup with expensive bag & shoes to accessorize your look, you will still not impress anyone if your hair is not looking good. That is a universal truth for me!

In today’s blog, YourDesiBee is going to share Ten Tips To Maintain Healthy Hair for almost every hair type. Hence without wasting any time, let us embark on our article reading journey and scroll down to get your hair their health back by following the tips given below:

1. Never Comb Wet Hair

This tip or advice is as old as our ancestors. Our hair is very weak when it is wet and by combing it during it being wet, we can actually break a lot of our hair that was not supposed to fall off. Always avoid combing your hair when it is wet and make sure that your hair is hundred percent dry before combing it out.

Another useful tip that is also quite old, that I will like to share here is to start combing your hair from end towards roots. This causes less breakage and makes it easier to detangle your hair. You can also apply little bit serum on end on your slightly wet hair and then start combing out your hair. This way you can not only detangle you hair, but you will also be able to cause minimum to no hair breakage.

Since I am a person who lives up to holistic approaches more than store bought products, I tend to use few drops of jasmine oil in my wet hair especially at the ends and then when it dries up, I comb my hair and it not only prevents breakage, but also gives a sweet smell & shine to my hair without making it greasy.

2. Stay Away From Heating Tools

I know this might be the most difficult task to do for you all, but trust me your hair and scalp will thank you for doing this to them.

There was a time when I was obsessed with heat styling my hair, and would use heating tools including a hair drier, flat iron and curler almost on a daily basis or on alternate days. Well! It will not be false to say that I have never gone back to what my hair were before using all these heating tools. I, who was famous for sleek, thick and shiny hair, now have extremely frizzy hair that needs consistent care, use of masks and hair treatments to be able to manage my hair properly.

I hardly touch heating tools now and prefer natural methods to straighten or curl my hair. You can actually get beautiful curls by sleeping with a braid. You can make these curls really loose or super thick by increasing or decreasing the amounts of braids and their thickness.

So Tip number two is definitely avoiding heating tools or reducing their usage to once or twice a week only, but with added care for your hair that includes, oiling, leave in conditioners & heat protecting sprays. But I will prefer for you to avoid it as much as you can, and trust me, you will never want to go back to these styling tools once you will master natural ways to style your hair.

3. Use Oils & Hair Masks Regularly

It may sound tacky or an old wives tale, but our grandmothers were never wrong when they told us that the only reason for their long and thick hair was hair oils & homemade hair masks.

No store bought product can replace the naturally made hair masks and hair oils. Today we have almost several hair oils that can be used for different hair types and hair conditions.

Try to massage you hair with oils at least twice or thrice a week if possible and also try to keep it overnight in you hair once a week. It is not only healthy for your hair, but a good head massage will also relax your muscles and aid with sound sleep.

You can use as many hair oils as you want and you can also actually mix two or three hair oils and use them in combined form to get greater effects. For example, you can mix Castor oil, olive oil, coconut oil & mustard oil and use it regularly twice or thrice per week to get extreme hair growth along with shiny, healthy and thick hair.

Or you can use even simple hair oil like mustard oil on a regular basis to get naturally nourished, strong and healthy hair.

Other than hair oils, homemade hair masks can also do wonders for your hair. For example by using the mixture of one banana with olive oil, one egg, yogurt & mustard oil on your hair for only one hour can actually prevent extreme hair fall for any hair type after first use only.

I have an article already on YourDesiBee that includes many hair masks that one can use for healthy hair. You can read that article and use any of the given masks to see results yourself. By continued use of hair oils and hair masks, you will forget booking expensive appointments with salons or hair experts and you will be the one who will be having forever extreme thick, healthy and luscious hair at home without wasting ample amount of money to get these results for few months only.

4. Maintain a healthy diet & Intake Meals That Incorporate Proteins and Multi Vitamins

Getting healthy hair is not possible by using treatments or remedies on the hair directly. You will also need to feed your body natural nutrients, vitamins and proteins to get your hair their much needed health from inside your body and blood stream.

Hair friendly vitamins and their sources are mentioned below:

  • Vitamin C:  strawberries , citrus fruits and bell peppers
  • Zinc: beef, pumpkin, oysters and lentils
  • Vitamin E: almonds, spinach,  sunflower seeds and avacados
  • Vitamin D:  fish, egg yolk, milk, sunlight and orange juice
  • Vitamins B (Biotin):  egg yolk, liver, salmon, avocados, nuts, seeds & dairy
  • Iron: eggs, oysters, clams, red meat, lentils and spinach
  • Vitamin A:  sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, spinach, milk, yogurt & eggs

Sometimes we may not be able to incorporate all these vitamins through our diet and our body may still need them, hence for curbing that need, you may visit a doctor and get prescription for multivitamin tablets to take on a regular basis to help your body and hair with it’s much needed vitamin intake.

As mentioned above, along with vitamin intake, your hair would also love for you to eat meals that have hair friendly protein in them. The meals or dairy products that include hair friendly protein may include eggs, fish (mackerel and salmon), nuts and seeds, lean meats, vegetables like spinach and kale plus beans and legumes.

So if you want healthy, shiny and strong hair try to incorporate all the mentioned food options in your daily diet and also get multivitamins after consulting with your doctor.

5. Do Not Shampoo Your Hair On A Daily Basis

Most of us are used to of daily showers, especially when it comes to living in hot countries like Australia, India & Pakistan.  Well, no matter how much you sweat or how much you love daily showers, try to avoid washing your hair on a daily basis and avoid using shampoos on daily basis as well.

Try to use sulphate-free shampoos and wash only twice a week if necessary but not more than that, if you wish to have strong hair locks and healthy hair from roots to end.

6. Do Not Rub Your Hair After Washing & Air Dry Them Always

Always make sure to use a cotton towel or a T-Shirt to tap dry your hair when you come out of the shower and never rub your hair between your towel or shirt. Gently tap your hair with your towel and let it soak the water and then let your hair loose and let it air dry only.

You may use hair drier rarely if you are in a rush to go outside or attend a party to dry your hair. But when you are at home and you have all the time to yourself, let your hair dry themselves. Air drying hair can improve the health of your hair tremendously and you will notice the difference after few washes as compared to the days where you used heating appliances to dry your hair.

7. Let You Hair Down When You Are Back Home

This tip is by far the most essential tip for all the hijabi girls. Wearing your hair in scarf for eight to ten hours daily can actually lead to losing hair on your hairline and causing baldness or alopecia. Being a hijabi and a working woman myself, I have gone through this stage already.

Even after coming back home, I used to keep my hair in the bun. After going through many treatments, medicines and trying loads of hair masks, I finally knew that I was missing out on something important that needed to be incorporated into my hair care routine. Then I came across a YouTuber, who actually mentioned that she let her hair down when she used to come home and used safe hair binding techniques under the hijab cap that helped her prevent from hairline baldness and hair loss due to consistent use of hijab.

Well, I now prefer to let me hair down all the hours when I am at home even if they are quite long and trust me this single thing along with other hair care techniques changed my hair game forever. I now wear hijab without any worries of losing my hair and let my hair breather for hours when I am home and do not have to do hijab.

This tip may also work for other men and women too who are habitual of binding their hair into buns or tight hair styles. Please let your hair loose and let them swirl around without tight hair styles and hair sprays to keep them in one place. Your hair will be thankful to you for that forever.

8. Use Inversion Method To Grow Your Hair Fast

This is the last tip that I will be leaving you with, but this one is my most favorite tip to tell others and to do it myself on my hair.

If you are not aware of the hair inversion method, then let me explain it to you.

In hair inversions method, you basically bow down in a standing position and let your hair fall down towards the floor. Then by standing in this position, you basically have to gently massage your head in circular motions for five minutes or bit more if you can. By doing this you are improving the circulation of your blood towards your head and doing this once or twice a week can boost your hair growth drastically and you will see inches growing in a single year after using this technique more often.

Sometimes it may not feel good for few people or you may feel dizzy after some minutes, hence only do this method if you can do it easily and do not exceed more than five minutes if you are feeling dizzy or heavy headed.

You can also the same process by lying down at the corner of your bed with your head bent down from the corner towards the floor and then massage you scalp for five minutes or bit more if possible for you.

Hair inversion method has been known to increase hair growth miraculously and it has actually been very helpful for me. I usually practice this method after oiling my hair and it has improved my hair a lot and I was able to grow my hair up t my hips which was hardly possible for me as my hair growth is very poor. I am not blessed with good genes when it comes to hair lols.
