Nighttime Skincare Routine For Oily Skin

There is an article on the Day Time Skincare Routine For Oily Skin already present on my website. If you have already read that article, it means that you know how much importance I give to skincare routines and how much they mean for self-care and maintenance of a healthy and beautiful skin for longer term.

In both day time and night time skin care routine, the most important thing is to always consider the order of products whilst doing the day time or night time skincare routine. Because if you will use the products in wrong order then you may end up layering wrong products and wrong layering in skincare ends up with nothing but zero effect of skincare on your skin.

Today we are going to discuss the importance of night time skincare routine for oily skin type. Night time skincare routine is really important and essential and has more benefits as compared to the morning time skincare routine. The major reason behind that is because your skin naturally rejuvenates and repairs itself whilst you sleep at night. So any products that you use on your face at night time will actually end up being really well absorbed in your skin and will give hundred percent beneficial results.

If you have an oily skin type then night time skincare routine can be a double benefit for you after doing your morning time skincare routine. This will not only help your skin to stay fresh, hydrated and less oily but it will also help those of you who get acne because of oily skin and in return get marks or discoloration on their skin as well.

So before starting the blog post, I am going to mention this already that major step in your night time routine is following a correct order of doing it and layering up right products to get best impact on your skin. So you will find step by step process of following up with the routine along with some products recommendations and tips. Do follow this order of the night time skincare routine for oily skin type and you will notice wonderful changes in your skin that will last longer.

Let’s begin our blog post!

Night Time Skincare Routine For Oily Skin

1. Makeup Removing

Whilst in the Morning Time Skincare Routine For Oily Skin, we only cleanse our face once. During the night time skincare routine, we actually go for double cleansing. Especially if you are someone who wears makeup on a daily basis.

So if you have seen different skincare specialists or any other blogger using double cleansing in their night time routine, then do not worry and wonder what it is, because in double cleansing method, the first time cleansing is basically done when you remove your makeup with the help of a makeup remover and the second time when you use a cleanser to further clean your face after removing all the makeup from your face.

So the very first step of your night time skincare routine will be to remove makeup from your face. Now you can use different options for this purpose. You can either use micellar water to remove the makeup and use drugstore brands like Garnier’s micellar water. Or you can go all natural and use coconut oil to remove your make. It works wonder for all skin types and you need not to worry for it being heavy on your face because you will be cleansing you face again and removing the excess oil from your face that you used for removing your makeup.

And to be honest, I am an extremely oily skin, but I love using jasmine oil and coconut oil on my skin and they have not harmed my skin in any way or caused it to breakout when I use them.

On the other hand there are many other high end makeup removing micellar water or creams and wipes that you guys can use. It is all up to you, but make sure that you remove your makeup the first thing in your night time makeup routine.

2. Cleansing

Step number two in your night time skincare routine for oily skin type will be to cleanse your face with any cleanser that is created specifically for oily skin type. Try to use a cleanser that is gentle on your skin and it controls oil production for some hours after using it.

As mentioned in my morning time skincare routine for oily skin type blog post, I prefer using Clean and Clear cleanser as it suits my oily skin type and works wonder for me. So you guys can try it out once and then judge for yourself, if you want to use it.

3. Exfoliation

Exfoliation is really great for skin. Especially when you have an oily skin and your skin is prone to acne and breakouts. I tend to get dark spots on my face due to an oily skin which breakouts sometimes a year and the only thing that helps me to faint the scars or acne marks on my face is exfoliation.

If you have dark spots or any sort of scarring due to acne and oily skin type issues then exfoliation can help you a lot in reducing the appearance of scars. And I am advising exfoliation in skincare during the night time only because this is the time when your skin repairs itself; hence the application of products after exfoliation helps with the better absorption in the skin which helps reducing dark spots and face marks.

One major tip here would be to not exfoliate more than thrice a week if you have dark spots on your face and once or twice is enough in case you just have an oily skin and there are no dark marks or spots on your skin.

4. Face Wash

Right after using a cleanser and then exfoliating my face, I incorporate using a mild face wash and wash my face again. I love using Clean & Clear face washes and would recommend you guys to try them too. They have mild scent and they are really gentle on the skin.

5. Toner

Once your face is washed and you are done with cleansing, makeup removing and exfoliation, Toner is the next right step and the next right product to layer on your skin.

A toner helps to remove any leftover dirt from your face, hydrates your skin and minimizes the look of pores on your skin.

It is really great for everyone with an oily skin but one major thing to consider when using a toner is to make sure that you are not using any toner which has alcohol in it.

If you have an acne prone skin then I might suggest you to buy a toner which has tee tree oil in it or you may simple opt to Rose Water like me because it is the most inexpensive and the most suitable toner for someone who has an oily skin and enlarged pores.

It does not only smell good but also makes you feel refreshing all the time and you can use it multiple times a day without worrying about using too much product.

6. Serums

Now when you are done with the toner application, your next best step will be to apply your serums.

Now there are different kinds of serums out in the market and they all target different kinds of skin conditions. For example Vitamin C serum is really hyped up in the market and it is best used for getting glowing skin, on the other hand we have Hyaluronic serum which hydrate the skin and if you are someone who is above 30’s, then I will recommend you all to use a serum that has Retinol in it as it helps to fight wrinkles and fine lines and helps preventing early wrinkles.

Now as this blog post is for those with oily skin type, then the most suitable serums for you and those who have acne prone skin will be the serums that contain AHA in them.

Just try few serums in the market and select the one that suits you the best. One best strategy is to search your skin condition online and see similar YouTubers’ reviews on the kind of serums they use. This way you can relate to their skin and experience and buy the recommended product that they use rather than having to try few to figure out which one to use. This strategy will be friendly to your pocket.

7.  Moisturizer

After serum, the next product that you should be layering over is the moisturizer. No matter how much oily you think your skin is, it does not mean that it will never need a moisturizer.

An oily skin needs a moisturizer as much as those people who have really dry skins.

Hence, find light moisturizer that is specifically designed for acne prone and oily skin type and always use it in your morning time skincare routine for oily skin type and also as the step number 7 in your night time skincare routine for oily skin type.

8. Eye Cream

Even if you have oily skin type, your eyes do not care for a cream formula that is specially designed for oily skin type. This is a big relief too. You will not need to search the market for an eye cream which is made for oily skin type.

Our under eye area is really thin and usually has different needs than our face skin. But there are different eye creams that cater to different needs of eye area. For example if you have dark circles then you need a cream formula which contains green tea or you may need an eye cream with hyaluronic acid or jojoba oil if you have wrinkly area under your eyes and you want to treat it.

So when making a purchase decision for your eye cream, you do not really need to look for a formula that is created for those with oily skin type, instead you need an eye cream that caters to the need of your under eye area which may include dark circles, wrinkles and puffy eyes etc.
